About Me
My interest in the counseling field began in college while working in summer programs for youth. I found that I enjoyed being a mentor to youth and talking with them about things that often others did not want to hear. It was after my first summer that I changed my major from accounting to counseling, and I never looked back. I have worked in the counseling field for more than 10 years now. My actual counseling work began in community career and mental health centers, and focused primarily on working with adolescents and their families to address job and career issues, substance abuse, chemical dependency and juvenile delinquency. I have always enjoyed working with juvenile offenders and their families, and along the way I had the opportunity to launch and develop programs that specifically targeted serving their unique needs. Although my current practice does not focus specifically on youth, I still enjoy working with them and their families, and I serve on the board of directors for a local agency dedicated to serving their needs - Touchstone Behavioral Health.

When I launched Evolve, I had the opportunity to expand the diversity of those clients with whom I work. In addition to continuing my work with adolescents and families, I also began working more with adults, especially in the area building healthy relationships. I have also developed a particular focus to work with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) community. I wanted to create a practice where people from all backgrounds would feel comfortable working through the challenges and issues important to their lives, without fear of judgment for how or with whom they live their lives.

As I work with my clients, I view myself as a partner in their progress toward learning and self-discovery. I believe that all people have a natural ability to solve problems, attain goals, and live authentically in their approach to meeting the demands of life. It is always my goal to help clients connect to that natural ability, rather than try to tell them how to go about living their lives.
